Planning a tailor-made safari

Start with what matters to you.

Every safari begins with a few choices: where, when, how comfortable, who is coming and for how long. This page walks through them and how to put them to our team.

A planning guide, not a promise of any arrangement. Tell us what you would like, and our team confirms what is possible in your quote.

Planning considerations

The choices that shape a safari.

Each is a question to answer for yourself first, with what our catalogue offers today. None is a guarantee of a particular arrangement.

  1. Where

Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, or Kenya and Tanzania together. Our journeys visit 31 parks, reserves and regions. Explore the destinations

  2. When

A month, exact dates or flexible dates: the planner takes any of them. Seasons change rainfall and where wildlife gathers, and many place pages describe when to visit.

  3. How comfortable

Budget, midrange or luxury, or not sure yet. The comfort level changes where you sleep, not the parks or the wildlife. Compare comfort levels

  4. Who is coming

How many adults and children, and the children’s ages. Families: our catalogue tags one journey as a family safari.

  5. How long

Our journeys run from 1 to 19 days: 21 of up to four days, 49 of five to eight and 28 of nine or more.

  6. What draws you

Great Migration (3), Gorillas (9), Beach & Zanzibar (6), Mountain trekking (10), Photography (1) and Honeymoon (1), counted from our journey titles.

  7. A route to start from

The quickest way to a plan is often the journey closest to what you want. Browse all 100 and tell us what you would change. Browse the journeys

  8. An individual quote

Everything above is confirmed with you, in writing, before you book: the route, the stays, who shares the vehicle and the price.

Being clear

What this page does not promise.

  • A particular guide, vehicle arrangement or private departure
  • Specific lodges, conservancies or special access
  • Flights, add-on activities or extensions not in our catalogue
  • A price or a reply time before we have your details

Ask about any of them. Our team will say what is possible for your dates. See also planning a private safari and the group-joining journeys.
