About Big Time Safaris

Made for the wild.

Big Time Safaris plans journeys through Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. This page sets out what we offer and how planning works. Company details appear here only once they are confirmed.

Who we are

A safari company, and what that means.

Big Time Safaris offers safaris in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda: game drives in the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti, gorilla journeys in Uganda, 10 mountain treks on Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, and 4 day tours.

Our catalogue lists 100 journeys, from a single day to 19 days. They are the routes we offer, not a count of trips run or travellers served.

The parks and reserves on our journeys are protected areas, not ours. A camp or lodge named on a journey is where that journey normally stays; it does not mean Big Time owns or runs it.

How planning works

From a first look to a conversation.

What this website does today, step by step. Prices, availability and arrangements are confirmed with you, not assumed.

  1. Browse the journeys

Filter all 100 by country, safari area, comfort, length and experience.

  2. Read about the places

Pages on the three countries and the 31 parks, reserves and regions our journeys visit.

  3. Compare comfort and style

Budget, midrange and luxury side by side, and what group-joining, private and tailor-made mean.

  4. Plan your safari

7 short steps: where, what kind, when, who, comfort and budget, your details, and a review of your answers.

  5. Ask your questions

About a journey, the places it stays, its price or anything you would like to change.

The landscapes

Three countries, one wild.

Where our journeys go, and how often. 20 journeys cross between Kenya and Tanzania. See them

  2. Shafts of light falling across the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

    Tanzania

The Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Kilimanjaro and the wild south.

  3. A mountain gorilla looking up from the forest floor in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

    Uganda

Bwindi’s gorillas, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo.

Ways to travel

Comfort, and who you travel with.

Two separate choices. The comfort level changes where you sleep; the travel style changes who shares your vehicle.

  • Budget51 journeys

Straightforward stays, published prices and the same parks and wildlife.

  • Midrange34 journeys

Lodge stays discussed with you during planning, with prices quoted for your dates.

  • Luxury15 journeys

Comfort-focused journeys, with lodges and travel shaped with you during planning.

Travel style

Our catalogue confirms 2 journeys as group-joining: 3 Days Maasai Mara Budget Safari and 11 Days Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, Lake Manyara, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari. It does not confirm private or tailor-made travel for any specific journey, so ask how the journey you like runs.

Why consider Big Time

Reasons you can check.

Each one is on this website for you to see, not a claim to take on trust.

  1. A wide choice

100 journeys across three countries, from day tours to 19-day circuits, with 10 mountain treks.

  2. Places explained

A page for each of the 31 parks, reserves and regions our journeys visit.

  3. Comfort, side by side

Budget, midrange and luxury compared from the catalogue, including what it leaves for you to ask.

  4. Prices where they are published

17 budget journeys show their published prices per person, exactly as published. The rest are quoted for your dates.

  5. A structured way to plan

The planner keeps your answers as you go and shows them all before anything is sent.

We publish only what we can show. Our registration, licensing, memberships and team will appear here once they are confirmed, and we show no sample reviews or borrowed badges in the meantime.
