Starts in Nairobi · finishes in Nairobi

The route, days and named stays are as planned. What is included at each stop, from food, park fees and drinking water to room types, permits and border arrangements, and any camp or lodge not named here, is set out in your written quotation. Game drives on travel days depend on arrival and departure times, timings can change with road and park conditions, and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Photographs illustrate each day’s destination; they are not pictures of a particular departure.

    Day 01Maasai Mara

A long road to the Mara

    Nairobi → Maasai Mara

The day starts early in Nairobi with the drive to the Maasai Mara in a 4×4 Land Cruiser, a journey that takes up much of the morning. The reward comes on arrival: after checking in at the camp, the afternoon is spent in the reserve, where the long grass plains run to the horizon and the chance of elephants, giraffes and lions resting under the acacias makes every bend in the track worth watching. On a two-day trip the first evening drive is precious, so it starts as soon as the bags are down.

    Day 02Maasai Mara

Morning in the reserve, then Nairobi

    Maasai Mara → Nairobi

Mornings are when the Mara feels most alive, and the last day can begin with one: an early drive, where time allows, while the light is low and the animals are moving. In the migration months, usually from June or July until November, the Mara Conservancy counts the herds in the hundreds of thousands, so a morning in season can be filled with wildebeest and zebra; outside those months the residents hold the stage. Afterwards the Land Cruiser turns back towards Nairobi, arriving in the evening.
