The route, days and named stays are as planned. What is included at each stop, from food, park fees and drinking water to room types, permits and border arrangements, and any camp or lodge not named here, is set out in your written quotation. Game drives on travel days depend on arrival and departure times, timings can change with road and park conditions, and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Photographs illustrate each day’s destination; they are not pictures of a particular departure.

Kampala → Murchison Falls National Park
The park lies north of Kampala, and the journey reaches it by road through the southern entrance gate. Murchison has been protected for a century, first as a game reserve from 1926 and as a national park since 1952. The park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the Bunyoro escarpment drops towards rolling plains and the valley of the Nile. In the south of the park the country is woodland and patches of forest, a first glimpse of how varied this stretch of the Albertine Rift Valley is.

Murchison Falls National Park
North of the river the park opens into savannah dotted with Borassus palms and acacia, the setting for game drives in search of giraffes, elephants and buffalo. Later, the calm stretch of the Nile below the falls is among the finest places in Uganda to watch wildlife from the water, with hippos and Nile crocodiles in the river and animals coming down to drink along the banks; whether a boat trip is included is set out in your quotation. With 144 mammal and 556 bird species recorded by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, there is something to watch everywhere you look.

Murchison Falls National Park → Kampala
The falls themselves are the natural final stop: here the full force of the Victoria Nile, at the end of a long stretch of rapids, is squeezed through its narrow gorge in a roar of spray. Birders may still be hoping for a shoebill, a species UWA says is often looked for along the Albert Delta where the river meets Lake Albert. From the park the road leads back south to Kampala, ending a short journey that takes in river, plains and one of Africa’s most dramatic waterfalls.
