The Lemosho route begins at the Lemosho gate, which Tanzania National Parks lists as reached via Londorossi. Like Machame it uses designated tented camps run by licensed operators rather than huts, and climbers come down by Mweka Gate, so in the way nights are spent it is closer to Machame than to the hut-based Marangu route.
Kilimanjaro is three volcanoes in one: Kibo, the 5,895-metre summit; Mawenzi, rugged and marked by glaciation; and Shira, the oldest, whose collapse left the Shira Plateau that TANAPA singles out for its scenic beauty. Six days is a compact climb, and TANAPA’s general advice applies: ascend slowly and allow for acclimatisation.
