About the route

The Naro Moru route, in four days.

The Naro Moru route begins on the western side of Mount Kenya, at Naromoru Gate near Naro Moru town on the Nyeri–Nanyuki road. It is one of three official ways onto the peaks recognised by Kenya Wildlife Service, alongside the Sirimon and Chogoria gates.

Four days is the shortest trek in the catalogue. On any high mountain a short trek leaves little room to adjust to altitude, so it suits fit walkers who are comfortable moving steadily uphill, and anyone unsure of how they cope at altitude should ask about the five-day version of the same route.

From official park information, checked in October 2026: Kenya Wildlife Service, Mt. Kenya National Park (opens in a new tab). Daily stages, camps and timings are confirmed with your itinerary.
