The route, days and named stays are as planned. What is included at each stop, from food, park fees and drinking water to room types, permits and border arrangements, and any camp or lodge not named here, is set out in your written quotation. Game drives on travel days depend on arrival and departure times, timings can change with road and park conditions, and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Photographs illustrate each day’s destination; they are not pictures of a particular departure.

    Day 01Maasai Mara

    Nairobi to the Mara

    Nairobi → Maasai Mara

The first day takes the safari from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara, a long drive in the 4×4 Land Cruiser that ends at the lodge for the first two nights. How the safari is arranged for women travellers, from the guide to the lodge, is explained in full when you plan. Where arrival time allows, the afternoon brings the first game drive, an introduction to the reserve’s open grassland and the animals that make it famous.

    Day 02Maasai Mara

The reserve at its own pace

    Maasai Mara

A full day in the Maasai Mara shows the reserve unfolding through the hours, from active early mornings to the slower heat of midday and the gold of late afternoon. Whether the herds are in, which the Mara Conservancy says is usually from June or July to November, or the reserve’s residents have the plains to themselves, there is time to stay with a sighting and watch what happens next. Herd movements follow the rain, so timing shifts from year to year.

Day 03Maasai Mara · Lake Nakuru

    Across to Lake Nakuru

    Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru

The safari leaves the Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park, a Rift Valley park that combines a semi-alkaline lake with grassland, acacia woodland and rocky escarpments. Kenya Wildlife Service describes it as home to one of the country’s largest populations of black rhinos, as well as white rhinos, and a drive here is a good chance to look for both.

    Day 04Lake Nakuru · Amboseli

    Lake Nakuru to Amboseli

    Lake Nakuru → Amboseli

An early drive in Lake Nakuru National Park comes first, along the lake shore where flamingos and other waterbirds may gather and into the woodland where rhinos browse. Then the long road south leads to Amboseli, near the Tanzanian border, which Kenya Wildlife Service reaches by two main approaches from the Nairobi side, via Emali or via Namanga. The day ends at a lodge in Amboseli, ready for a full day among the elephants.

    Day 05Amboseli

    Amboseli under the mountain

    Amboseli

A day in Amboseli is a day with elephants. Kenya Wildlife Service calls the park one of Africa’s premier places to meet large elephant herds, and the setting, with Kilimanjaro across the border on clear days, makes the encounters unforgettable. The swamps and marshes are rich in birds, and Observation Hill gives a view across the plains that helps make sense of the whole park, from the dry grassland to the green of the swamps.

    Day 06Amboseli

    Back to Nairobi

    Amboseli → Nairobi

The last morning offers another chance to see Amboseli’s elephants and, weather permitting, the peak of Kilimanjaro before the drive back to Nairobi. Over six days the safari has covered Kenya’s best-known reserve, a Rift Valley rhino sanctuary and the plains of the south. It ends in the capital, where drop-off arrangements are set out in your quotation. If anything about the journey’s arrangements for women travellers matters to you, it is worth raising with us before booking, so that the answers are in writing.
